Gearlletha has been employed by the state of Mississippi for 10 years. Her motto is "It only takes one. One person can make a difference". Her favorite quote is "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."

Gearlletha has over 10 years of experience as an employee of the State of Mississippi. She began her professional career serving the Jackson Public School District Department of Records and Archives as a Record Specialist. She continued her career serving at Mississippi Public Broadcasting as Human Resources Specialist. She is currently the Assistant Personnel Director at Mississippi Department of Human Services. While serving in Human Resources some of the areas of her duties and responsibilities includes recruiting, performance development, employee relations, new hire orientation, wellness program initiative, internship program development, insurance and benefits, leadership development, and organization development.

Her passion and dedication for helping others in actualizing their potential has allowed her to effectively communicate with individuals on any level. As an enthusiastic contributor, she has served as 2021 MAPA President, MAPA Vice President, Board Member and Secretary. A member of the local chapter of SHRM, Capital Area Human Resource Association (CAHRA), she looks forward to serving MAPA and working with others to strategically combine their purposes as we “provide a means for the improvement of personnel administration through common understanding, language and effort.”
